In 1996 five families gathered to form a support group for parents who had children with Down syndrome. Today Down Syndrome of South Central Kentucky is a 501c3 non-profit made up of parents, family members, friends, community members and professionals who care for and support those born with Down syndrome. The organization has ten county outreach and on March 21, 2013 opened the doors to The Buddy House, south central Kentucky’s headquarters for Down syndrome.
Our Mission is to enhance the quality of life for individuals with Down syndrome and their families by providing support information, education, resources, networking, and activities, while advocating in the community and state. We Believe early intervention, inclusion, community awareness and support are essential in helping persons with Down syndrome reach their maximum potential and lead fulfilling lives.
